In New Zealand, almost all restrictions on curbing the corona virus are to be lifted. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced this at a press conference. From tomorrow (local time), public and private events can take place without distance rules. This also applies to retail and hospitality as well as public transport.

The strict entry rules should remain. The aim was to get out of the crisis as quickly and safely as possible, so that national borders remain the first line of defense against the virus and all other restrictions on the economy can be ended, said Ardern.

According to Ardern, the country has managed to stop the transmission of the virus. There are no more active infections. The – for the time being – last coronavirus patient showed no symptoms for 48 hours according to the Ministry of Health and is therefore considered to be recovered. The last new infection was reported 17 days ago. So far, the authorities had registered 1,154 infections and 22 deaths.

Loosening also in Denmark

There is also relaxation in Denmark, where up to 50 people can gather in the same place. Because of the corona virus pandemic, only ten people were recently allowed. Indoor swimming pools, gyms and other covered sports and leisure facilities are also allowed to open again – the government of Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and the other parliamentary parties had agreed on Saturday.

According to the government, up to 500 spectators should be able to attend certain events with certain seating capacities, such as matches in the first Danish football league, the Superleague, from Friday. As TV2 reported, Frederiksen is planning an attempt to have more than 500 spectators in the stadium during one or more Superleague matches.
