New Renault boss talks to Nissan about alliance

The French carmaker Renault and his Japanese partner Nissan talk about the future of their alliance after the arrest of their former boss Carlos Ghosn.

To this end, Renault’s new president, Jean-Dominique Senard, met in Japan for two-day talks with Nissan boss Hiroto Saikawa, local media reported.

Senard is responsible for Ghosn’s alliance with Nissan. He is expected to be appointed to the Nissan Board of Directors at an extraordinary shareholders‘ meeting on April 8.

Ghosn, who has been in custody in Japan for three months, is said to have violated stock market requirements, among other things. The 64-year-old has asserted his innocence in court.

After repeated failed applications for bail, Ghosn changed his Japanese lawyer and will be defended in the future by the lawyer Junichiro Hironaka. He has repeatedly represented prominent defendants and often achieved acquittals. An appointment for a lawsuit against Ghosn in Japan does not yet exist.
