The protests in Thailand against the government and the role of the monarchy continue unabated. Today, numerous demonstrators gathered again in the center of Bangkok to make their demands heard. The rally took place near the police headquarters.
The emergency services warned the participants that they would react decisively to any attempt to storm the building, as the newspaper „Bangkok Post“ reported. At first it was peaceful.
The democracy movement demands the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, a new election and comprehensive reforms. At the same time, the role of the monarchy is being questioned. King Maha Vajiralongkorn spends most of his time in Bavaria, even if he has been in Thailand for a few weeks now. The symbol of resistance is the three-fingered greeting from the science fiction film series „The Hunger Games“.
There were clashes only yesterday. The police used tear gas and water cannons. Some demonstrators had previously thrown bags of paint and smoke bombs at the officials and tried to overcome barricades set up in front of parliament. According to the health authorities, more than 40 people were injured.
