India has seen a peak in new coronavirus infections every day. The Ministry of Health reported 66,999 new infections within 24 hours. That was the 15th day in a row that the country recorded at least 50,000 new cases.
The total number of detected infections rose to almost 2.4 million, the third most in the world after the USA and Brazil. The number of deaths rose to over 47,000.
Almost 500,000 cases in Mexico
The number of coronavirus cases in Mexico is now approaching half a million. The Ministry of Health reported 5,858 new infections and 737 more deaths.
A total of 498,380 diseases and 54,666 deaths have been confirmed in the country so far. According to the government, the number of unreported cases is likely to be significantly higher.
