The day after the US presidential election, the number of new coronavirus infections recorded in the United States hit a new high. Johns Hopkins University announced yesterday evening (local time) that almost 100,000 new cases were recorded within 24 hours – the exact number is 99,660.
The total number of registered infections with the novel coronavirus in the US since the beginning of the pandemic is more than 9.4 million. According to official statistics, the death toll in the country is around 233,000. In terms of absolute numbers, the United States is by far the most severely affected country in the world by the pandemic.
