Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President Donald Trump for the economic sanctions on Iran that will come into force tomorrow. „For years, I have been calling for sanctions to be fully re-imposed on Iran’s murderous terror regime, which threatens the whole world,“ Netanyahu said yesterday, according to his office.
Iran and Israel are archenemies. Netanyahu is considered the sharpest critic of the nuclear deal with Iran.
The US wants to meet its intimate enemy from Monday on with the worst economic sanctions in history, after withdrawing from the 2015 international nuclear deal in May. First sanctions against Iran were reinstated in August. The new sanctions will now hit the oil industry in particular, but also the financial sector and the transport sector with the important ports.
