In the Lübcke murder case, the German Attorney General has brought charges against the main suspect and his alleged supporters. This was announced today by the federal prosecutor’s office in Karlsruhe. The trial is to take place in Frankfurt am Main before the State Protection Senate of the Higher Regional Court. The court has yet to admit the indictment.

The main suspect is said to have killed the Kassel government president Walter Lübcke at night in early June 2019 with a close-up head shot on his terrace. The CDU politician had campaigned publicly for the admission of refugees, which is said to have raised the prime suspect. The 46-year-old had confessed to the crime first and also led the police to his weapons storage facility. He later withdrew his confession.

The alleged supporter is charged with aiding and abetting the murder. The 44-year-old is said to have given the main suspect contact with an arms dealer and, among other things, to have encouraged his acquaintances to do so through joint target practice.
