In Brazil, the number of coronavirus deaths has risen to more than 60,000. The Ministry of Health said that 1,016 people had died of the new virus in the last 24 hours, making a total of 60,610.
The number of infected people rose by 45,482 to just under 1.5 million. That is the second highest number worldwide after the United States.
