Two months after the first registered death, more than 16,000 coronavirus-related patients died in Brazil. That came from yesterday’s data from the Ministry of Health in Brasilia. According to official information, 16,118 people have died to date from or with the lung disease Covid-19, and 241,080 have been infected with the virus.
According to data from the US-based Johns Hopkins University, the country with continental dimensions is still in sixth place in the number of fatalities, and fourth in the number of infected people among the worst affected countries, ahead of Italy and Spain.
The number of infections with the new corona virus and the number of fatalities are also increasing significantly in other Latin American countries.
Like the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo (4,688), Mexico (over 5,000) has now overtaken China in the number of officially reported coronavirus deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) also recorded a particularly large number of infections in America for three other American countries: Between 10,000 and 100,000 new infections were reported in Peru and Chile last week, and more than 100,000 in the USA.
