German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to adopt a prudent approach in Syria.
Deputy government spokeswoman Martina Fietz said on Sunday in Berlin that Merkel said in a telephone conversation with Erdoğan that „Turkey will react with restraint and responsibility to the announced withdrawal of American troops from Syria.“
