Duchess Meghan gave birth to a boy. That’s what her husband Prince Harry said. They still think about a name for the son.
British Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan became parents for the first time. He was pleased to announce that Meghan and he had become parents of a „very healthy baby“ in the morning, Harry said beaming to journalists in Windsor. According to Buckingham Palace, Prince Harry was present at the delivery of the boy.
For him, the birth of his first child was „the most incredible experience,“ Harry said. Mother and child are doing „incredibly well,“ the prince told the excited public. He and Meghan are „absolutely excited and grateful for all the love and support of all“. The child does not yet have a name: Although it was born „a bit late“, he and Meghan still think about a first name, said Harry.
Birth in the early morning
Buckingham Palace said in a statement that at 5:26 am local time (6:26 am CEST), the baby was born in the presence of his father and weighs 3.3 pounds. Less than a month ago, Harry and Meghan had stated that they would not immediately announce the birth of their first child, unlike the Royals used to.
The boy is ranked seventh in the line of succession and is the eighth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. Meghan and Harry got married last May at Windsor Castle and moved to nearby Frogmore Cottage. At first, Meghan and Harry were neighbors of Kate and William at Kensington Palace in central London.
