May recruits again for controversial Brexit agreement

Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May has campaigned for the controversial draft Brexit in her New Year’s speech. In 2019, a „new chapter“ in the history of the United Kingdom will be pitched, May said yesterday. However, in order to be optimistic about the future, Parliament must approve the withdrawal agreement with the EU.

The agreement she negotiated was in line with Britain’s Brexit vote in 2016, May said. In the coming weeks, British MPs would have to make an „important decision“: „If Parliament supports an agreement, Britain can come over the mountain. „At the same time, the Prime Minister called for reconciliation. In 2019, the British could set their „differences aside“ and look to the future.

May currently has no majority for the draft contract in Parliament. In their own party, however, there are strong resistance. Next week, deliberations in Parliament are to begin. The UK’s exit from the EU is scheduled for 29 March.
