This is the result of a recent study by the Ifop Institute on behalf of the Jean-Jaurès Foundation in Paris. The representative survey was about both lewd remarks and persecution and physical assault. Only on Tuesday were numbers published by the Federal Criminal Police Office, according to which every third woman in Germany experiences domestic violence.
Every tenth respondent has experienced sexual violence on the street in Germany
The study of the Ifop Institute compares six industrialized countries: Germany, USA, Great Britain, France, Italy and Spain. A total of 6,025 women over the age of 18 were interviewed by online questionnaire, around 1,000 per country. The participants were randomly selected using the quota method (age, occupation, region).
The comparison of countries shows that the situation is even more serious for women in, for example, the USA or Spain than in Germany. Thus, one in ten women in Germany stated that they had once experienced sexual violence on the street. In the US, it is even one in five.
This is how women can protect themselves
On Saturday, various associations in Paris and other French cities called for demonstrations against sexual violence. The motto: Nous Toutes, too German We all. They want to strengthen the solidarity among women with the protests.
