With stricter conditions Mallorca wants to curb the notorious binge tourism on the Playa de Palma from this summer on, as yesterday became known. In the future, bars and beer gardens will have to be physically separated from the street around the party area on the „Schinkenstraße“, so that holidaymakers and tourists will consume food and drinks only within the premises – and the police can also monitor compliance with this rule.

Vodka, alcopops, beer, etc. may therefore no longer – as usual – be consumed on the sidewalk, which often adjoins the party premises. In case of violations fines of up to 3,000 euros. Residents complain for years about noise and drinking excesses in public spaces.
No Happy Hour at dumping prices anymore

In order to enforce the stricter standards, the streets around the just popular with German Ballermann were summarily declared „Zonas de Especial Interes Turistico“ (areas of particular tourist interest) reported media on the Balearic island, citing a message from the city administration. Other parts of the Mallorcan capital are included in the measure, according to „Mallorca newspaper“.

In addition, the entire Playa de Palma not only advertising for alcohol, but also promotions such as the „happy hour“ banned if strong drinks are dumped at dumping prices, quoted the sheet councilor Angelica Pastor. The standards are valid during the Majorca season from April to September.
