The Luxembourg government is preparing a new lockdown in the Grand Duchy to fight the coronavirus pandemic. “If the numbers don’t get better, then next Monday we have to ask the House of Representatives to adopt new rules,” Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said in Luxembourg today.
The government has therefore forwarded a package of measures to parliament. Whether this will be implemented will not be decided until next week.
The new CoV wave hit the second smallest country in the EU with a good 600,000 inhabitants. Since the end of October, there has been a night curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. in Luxembourg and an increased mask requirement – always where more than four people meet.
9,286 people are currently considered to be actively infected with the corona virus in Luxembourg. So far, 236 people have died in connection with an infection in Luxembourg. 211 people are in clinics, 46 of them in intensive care units.
