Justice in the Italian city of Arezzo has ordered that a viaduct of the major motorway 3B running from Ravenna to the south must be closed immediately. The viaduct threatens to fail, according to public prosecutor Roberto Rossi.

It is a viaduct at Valsavignone, more than 200 kilometers north of Rome. Rossi’s order comes during a judicial investigation into the collapse of part of this motorway in February.

The bad condition of a pillar of the viaduct happened to be discovered by a man who was searching for mushrooms on the ground, Italian media reported. He placed an image of the pillar of reinforced concrete on social media, apparently ravaged by the ravages of time.

In August, a pillar of a motorway viaduct on the west side of the center of Genoa started. The bridge collapsed and more than forty people lost their lives. The bridge was a crucial link in traffic from Genoa to the airport and the port of the city and in traffic between France and Italy.
