Starting next week, Italy wants to divide the country into different coronavirus zones again. This means that different rules will apply to people in the regions, depending on how the situation there develops. Italy’s Health Minister Roberto Speranza signed a new regulation yesterday, as he announced in the evening.

After that, the northern regions of Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto as well as Sicily and Calabria in the south will fall into the orange zone from Monday. Stricter rules then apply in them than in the rest of the country, which is then to be divided into the yellow zone.

Specifically, for orange zones this means that bars and restaurants are closed and are only allowed to sell take-away food. The radius of movement is limited to the municipality. In addition, the government of the country with around 60 million inhabitants has banned travel between all regions until January 15th.
