In view of the high number of coronavirus infections, Italy wants to prevent strolling. For example, the authorities are taking strict measures to prevent city center crowding after sun-seeking citizens flocked to the city centers and beaches at the weekend in the face of summer temperatures.

In the three northern Italian regions of Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Emilia-Romagna, people will no longer be allowed to walk on the streets and squares of the city centers from tomorrow. Access to the beaches should also be prohibited. You can only do sports in parks if you can keep a distance of two meters. Outdoor markets are closed if they do not have separate entrances and exits.

In Verona, Mayor Federico Sboarina issued an ordinance according to which one can no longer stand around in the squares. „We call on the citizens (to help) that our region is not declared a red zone,“ said the President of Veneto, Luca Zaia. In Rome, two metro stations not far from the most popular shopping streets in the center are to remain closed on the weekend.
Strong CoV increase in prisons

In the past two weeks, the number of CoV cases in Italian prisons rose by 600 percent. The Italian prison guards‘ union federation (OSAPP) warned of this in a letter to Justice Minister Alfonso Bonafede.

In view of the overcrowding in Italian prisons, compliance with CoV rules is very difficult, the letter said. 1,265 prison guards and inmates tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday.

In Italy, the number of coronavirus deaths continued to rise yesterday. 636 deaths were recorded in 24 hours, the highest since April 6th. The previous day there were 623. The number of newly infected people rose from 32,961 to 37,978 in 24 hours. 234,672 tests were performed within 24 hours.
