In the Alsatian community of Quatzenheim, strangers have desecrated dozens of graves in the Jewish cemetery. Some 80 tombstones were smeared, among other things, with blue or yellow swastikas, a news agency AFP reported today. The competent prefecture condemned with „the utmost determination“ the „abominable anti-Semitic act“. The public prosecutor in Strasbourg initiated an investigation. Quatzenheim is located northwest of Strasbourg.
With the rise of anti-Semitic attacks in France, President Emmanuel Macron will meet tonight with the heads of Parliament at the Paris Holocaust Memorial. Under the motto „It suffices“ („Ca suffit!“), Rallies against anti-Semitism are planned in Paris and other cities, with the participation of all the major parties except the right-wing populists.
