Almost four months after a vaccination campaign began, the Israeli government has decided to open schools to a large extent. From Sunday, lessons in small groups should be discontinued and taught again in the usual class groups, said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office on the night of today. At the same time, a monitoring system is to be introduced to quickly detect infections.

After the start of the vaccination campaign on December 19, the number of new infections and the number of seriously ill people fell sharply in the country with nine million inhabitants. Significantly less than one percent of all tests were recently positive. The five million second vaccination mark could be broken in a few days. In parallel with the progress of the vaccination campaign, the government began to gradually relax the CoV restrictions.

Israel is a very young country, around 30 percent of its citizens are under 16 years old. So far, you can only be vaccinated in exceptional cases. However, experts expect that the vaccination of young people between the ages of twelve and 16 could soon begin.
