The Palestinian Authority has to give up about 124 million euros from Israel. The Israeli Security Cabinet agreed yesterday to block this amount for the Palestinians.
Israel accuses the Palestinian government of having paid equal amounts of money to terrorists and their families in 2018. The money is collected by Israel for the PA and comes from taxes and duties. The Israeli parliament had passed the relevant law to freeze the money in July.
The Palestinian Authority uses part of its expenses for the families of some 6,000 Palestinians in Israeli custody and relatives of killed assassins. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas defended payments in the past and spoke of „social responsibility“ to the families.
