Israeli warplanes have attacked, according to the army, an „underground terrorist organization“ of the radical Islamic Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip. Previously, a rocket was fired from the coastal area to Israel, the army said in the night on today. The rocket had been intercepted by the missile defense.
The night before, the Israeli authorities had ordered Cogat to ban access to the sea from the Gaza Strip for the time being. This will not allow the fishermen to move out. The reason for the ban were brand balloons and kites from the Gaza Strip, which would be sent to Israel, it said in a statement. The balloons and kites regularly fire in the south of the country.
By the beginning of May, the worst outbreak of violence in the Gaza Strip had occurred in five years. Militant Palestinians fired about 700 rockets at Israel, and Israel’s army attacked targets in the Gaza Strip. Four Israelis and 25 Palestinians were killed. The situation calmed down after a ceasefire had been negotiated with Egyptian help.
