The Iranian oil tanker „Adrian Darja 1“ has apparently switched off the signal with which he can be located while driving through the Mediterranean. The last signal comes, according to the information service Marine Traffic of yesterday evening (CEST). At this time, the tanker was about 85 kilometers off the coast of Lebanon and Syria. There is no information about his destination.
The Iranian ship had been detained in Gibraltar for over six weeks on charges of undermining the EU embargo on Syria. The Supreme Court of the British Overseas Territory at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula finally freed the tanker.
Since then, the ship is moving in the eastern Mediterranean. The captain initially stated that he wanted to go to Greece. After that it was said that the ship wanted to go to ports in Turkey. The US has put pressure on all the Mediterranean countries not to give the tanker anchorage and support. They try in conflict with Iran to bring the country’s oil exports to zero.
