The Iranian Revolutionary Guards have unveiled a new rocket with a range of 1,000 kilometers. The official news agency Sepah News announced yesterday that the cruise missile named Desful is the upgraded version of the older Solfaghar rocket. Their range is 700 kilometers.
The launch of the new weapon was reported to be in an underground missile production facility. The Aviation Commander Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh and Major General Mohammed Ali Jafari of the Revolutionary Guards took part in it. Jafari said Iran’s rocket production shows the West that it „does not allow itself to be deterred by its objectives through punitive measures and threats.“
Nuclear weapons are prohibited
On Saturday, Tehran had announced the successful test of a cruise missile called Howeiseh, which has a range of more than 1,350 kilometers. Iran has agreed to restrict its nuclear program in the 2015 US-terminated international nuclear agreement. However, he sticks to his missile program.
UN Resolution 2231, which approved the UN Security Council nuclear agreement, calls on Tehran not to test missiles that can be equipped with nuclear weapons. Rocket tests in general are not prohibited.
