One day after an attack on several government buildings in the Afghan capital Kabul, the death toll has risen to at least 43. The number of injured has reached 25, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Wahidullah Madschroh.
Before the Ministry of Public Works was on Monday afternoon (local time) detonated a car bomb. After that, an unknown number of assailants stormed nearby buildings of the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and the Disabled. From there, the attackers fired on more government buildings in the area.
The security forces brought a total of 357 people, most of them civil servants, during the hours-long shootings to safety, the authorities said. The attack could only be completed shortly before midnight.
So far, no one committed to the attack. It is the 22nd big attack in the Afghan capital this year. In total, more than 550 people died, more than 1,000 were injured. Most of the attacks were claimed by the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS).
