Due to illegal parties at the „Ballermann“, Mallorca has decided to force all restaurants on the „Beer“ and „Ham Street“, which are particularly popular with German tourists. This order is initially valid for two months and comes into force immediately with the publication of the corresponding decision in the Official Journal, said the Balearic Minister of Tourism Iago Negueruela in Palma.

For the same reason, the regional government ordered the closure of all restaurants on the Puerto Ballena street in the British stronghold of Magaluf, west of the island’s capital. The behavior of a few vacationers and local owners should not jeopardize the huge efforts of the Balearic Islands to fight the pandemic, Negueruela said.

The socialist politician referred to photos and videos that had shown how hundreds – presumably tourists from Germany and Great Britain – had drunk, danced and celebrated at Playa de Palma and in Magaluf during the weekend. They were on the move without wearing a protective mask and without maintaining the safety distance of at least one and a half meters prescribed throughout Spain.
