The Chinese technology group Huawei has today opened a new European cybersecurity transparency center in Brussels.

The company, which has been suspected of cyber espionage on many sides, intends to provide a platform for government agencies, technical experts, industry associations and standards organizations to work together on future standards. Above all, Huawei is likely to dispel the security concerns that have recently grown in Europe.

„We believe this is an effective model for building confidence in the digital age,“ said Huawei’s vice chairman Ken Hu. Confidence must be based on verifiable facts based on common standards. Confidence in cybersecurity is „one of the biggest challenges facing the world in the digital age“.

Recently, security concerns against the Chinese company also grew in Brussels. EU Digital Commissioner Andrus Ansip pointed out that Chinese companies are forced to cooperate with state intelligence agencies in their country. Huawei is now calling for global cybersecurity standards. Overall, the telecom industry’s industry is lacking a „single technical security code“ and the possibility of review, Ken Hu said.
