Huawei expects to sell 230 to 250 million smartphones next year, as the company announced on Monday in a new product release.
He Gang, head of Huawei’s smartphone unit, said he expects to sell more than $ 200 million by December 25 to achieve the company’s full-year goal. In the third quarter, global mobile phone sales increased 32.9 percent year-on-year.
Huawei is already the world’s second largest smartphone provider, after outperforming Apple in the second quarter. Samsung and Apple are in first and third place. Apple’s quarterly figures fell 13.4 percent year-on-year, while Samsung reported growth of 0.5 percent, according to US research firm IDC.
The latest model from Huawei is the „Nova 4“, which features a 48-megapixel camera, a self-developed „Kirin 970“ processor and some artificial intelligence-based features. It will be available starting Dec. 27 at an introductory price of $ 3099 ($ 450).
In 2016, Huawei sold over 100 million mobile phones worldwide. In 2017, more than 150 million smartphones were sold. Meanwhile, there are several sub-brands in the smartphone category, including Mate, Nova and Honor, to address different consumer groups.
In addition to the new smartphone Huawei also brought a portable printer, a safety monitor and a body fat scale on the market.
