Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on Friday that he would be pushing for a general mask requirement in Hungary, as braking the pandemic depended on wearing a mask. As early as Friday, the wearing of the MNS masks had been extended to outdoor events, such as football games and demonstrations.
Croatia with a new high
Croatia recorded a record of new infections with the coronavirus for the second time in a row. A total of 2,421 new cases were recorded within 24 hours, around 980 of them in the capital Zagreb alone. The number of active cases rose to 11,144, the crisis team announced today. Eight people died from or with Covid 19 disease. 825 patients are treated in the hospitals, 58 of whom are artificially ventilated.
Tomorrow, additional coronavirus measures are to be introduced in Croatia, which will be presented today. As the crisis manager, Interior Minister Davor Bozinovic, announced, the measures will relate to the restriction of close contacts. According to media reports, the interior minister ruled out a night curfew and total lockdown.
Slovakia: More than 3000 new infections
In Slovakia, the daily increase in coronavirus infections has exceeded the 3,000 threshold for the first time. As the conservative Prime Minister Igor Matovic announced on Facebook today, a record number of 3,042 new infections was reached within 24 hours.
The rapid increase in the number of infections confirms that it was right to impose exit restrictions across the country, wrote the founder of the election platform Ordinary People (OLANO). “But the lockdown alone, as it is designed in Slovakia, so that millions of people still go to work, cannot be enough. Our comprehensive tests therefore play a key role in containment. “
Tonight, the first phase of an unprecedented testing of almost the entire Slovak population should come to an end. Since Friday, under the direction of the Ministry of Defense, all residents over ten years old have been subjected to a rapid antigen test in four particularly badly affected districts on the border with Poland. The rest of the country should follow on the next two weekends – after all, around five million people.
