According to official figures, China reports 42 new cases, the highest number of new infections every day in more than two months. The increase is due to the outbreak in a clothing factory in the northwest region of Xinjiang, the national health agency said today. Of the new cases, 22 were previously asymptomatic cases from the Xinjiang region.
China does not consider symptom-free infections as confirmed cases. The total number of confirmed infections in mainland China now stands at 85,868, while the death toll remains unchanged at 4,634.
