Successful times for the Hamburg customs: After the record finding of 4.5 tons of cocaine in the port of the German city in early August, were discovered in the search of a container ship another 1.5 tons, as a spokesman announced today. The cocaine had a street sale value of 350 million euros.
The drugs were reportedly hidden in 64 sports bags. „The container with tobacco boxes was loaded in Rio Grande, Brazil, and should again be deleted in Antwerp“ said customs spokesman Oliver Bachmann.
The 1.5 tons of cocaine were destroyed along with the record 4.5 tons under strict secrecy and extensive safety precautions. The 4.5 tonnes of cocaine, with a street sale value of around one billion euros, were the largest narcotic drug volume ever seized individually in Germany.
