The Dalai Lama has praised Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg for her commitment. In a letter to the 16-year-old, the Tibetan spiritual leader wrote: „It is very heartening to see how you have inspired other young people to speak out with you.“
Thunberg draws people’s attention to the climate crisis and gets them to take action, the website of the Dalai Lama quoted from the letter. The young climate activist was pleased about the prominent praise. She is just traveling and has not yet had the letter in her hands, she told the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter. But: „Of course that’s great and I appreciate it very much.“
Thunberg does not want to go to school for a year from this summer. In September, she wants to attend the United Nations Climate Change Summit in New York, then in December at the World Climate Change Conference in Santiago de Chile.
