The German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution sees in the AfD „first factual indications“ of a policy directed against the free-democratic basic order. The entire party is therefore considered in the future as a test case, said German intelligence agency President Thomas Haldenwang today in Berlin. The young AfD organization Junge Alternative (JA) and the association „Der Flügel“ are declared suspicious cases.
A party can become a test case when the authorities begin to see signs of extremist aspirations. In a test case, an observation with V-people and other intelligence resources, but in principle not allowed.
If, on the other hand, an organization is declared a suspicious case – as is now the „wing“ of Thuringia party and faction leader Björn Höcke – the use of intelligence resources is possible, albeit only to a very limited extent. For example, then an observation is allowed, as well as the collection of certain information from authorities. V-people and the monitoring of telecommunications are also not used here. This is only allowed if an organization is classified as an observation object.
