US President Trump threatens automaker General Motors with the consequences of the possible closure of factories in the United States.

The US has done a lot for GM and they are in a position to put a lot of pressure on the corporation, Trump told reporters in Washington. He called on company boss Barra to stop car production in China and instead quickly open a new factory in the US.

The Detroit-based company is investigating the closure of five sites in the US and Canada and plans to cut nearly 15,000 jobs. The measures are part of a radical reconstruction, it said. In the future, the focus should be on the production of self-propelled and electric vehicles.
