Following the resignation of the French government, the cabinet of the new Prime Minister Jean Castex is expected to be announced today. As the French news agency AFP said with reference to the Presidential Office, President Emmanuel Macron and Castex continued their consultations today with the aim of introducing the new government today. The cabinet is said to have around twenty ministers and associated ministers.
Castex became prime minister on Friday after his predecessor Edouard Philippe and the whole cabinet resigned. The change of government is intended to enable Macron to restart after his party’s defeat and the Greens‘ victory in local elections. Castex announced a major government reshuffle on Friday.
