The US Department of Justice has seriously discussed the possibility of impeachment of President Donald Trump following the expulsion of FBI Director James Comey. That’s what former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe said in an interview with the CBS magazine „60 Minutes,“ which became public in parts today and cited by the New York Times.
He said he had talked to Trump the day after he was kicked out and worried that he too would be fired. His concern was that the Russia case then disappear very quickly and „without leaving a trace overnight“.
There should also have been discussions as to whether an impeachment procedure based on the 25th amendment could be brought against Trump. This states that presidents can be removed if their state of health no longer allows them to officiate.
Discussions about possible majority
„There were meetings at the Department of Justice discussing whether the Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to dismiss the President after the 25th Amendment,“ said Scott Pelley, who had interviewed McCabe.
„The highest levels of law enforcement in the US were trying to figure out what to do with the president,“ Pelley said, based on what McCabe said. The full interview is to be broadcast on Sunday.
„McCabe is shame on FBI and our country“
Trump responded to Thursday’s interview on Twitter, covering McCabe with censure. McCabe pretends to be a „poor little angel,“ but in truth played a big role in helping Hillary Clinton. Clinton had run for president against Trump.

McCabe’s wife got a lot of money from Clinton, Trump claimed. McCabe himself had been a puppet of the confidentiality-chattering Comey. „McCabe is a shame on the FBI and a shame on our country,“ Trump wrote.
