
After heavy rains and floods, crocodiles from a river have been flushed into the Indian megacity Vadodara. The police said 50 centimeters of rain fell within 24 hours and the Vishwamitri River overflowed.
Several crocodiles were thus observed attacking dogs in flooded residential areas, as seen on videos distributed online.
According to police, five people have died as a result of the floods, including two electrocuted and two others by a collapsing wall. Numerous streets, bridges and the station of the city were closed, whole neighborhoods cut off from the outside world. Around 5,000 people had to leave their homes.
More than 250 people have died in India over the past few weeks following devastating floods following the monsoon. The hardest hit were the North Indian provinces of Assam and Bihar.
