More than seven years after the originally planned opening of the German capital city airport BER, important technical facilities will be tested together for the first time at the permanent construction site. The test is a prerequisite for the acceptance of the airport by the building authority. The systems are located in the main terminal. The opening of the airport in Schönefeld near Berlin is now planned for October 2020.
According to the information provided by the airport, TÜV is responsible for the active principle tests (WPP). Assumed that 40 working days or two months. It tests whether the asset groups work together. These include, for example, the fire alarm and alarm systems and the safety power supply. Before that, the systems were only tested individually.
„The beginning of the higher-level active-principle tests in July confirms our schedule until the opening of the BER in October 2020,“ airport chief Engelbert Lütke Daldrup had announced when announcing the tests.
Originally, the opening of the airport was planned for autumn 2011. However, construction defects, technical problems and planning errors delayed the project. Six times the opening date has already been postponed.
