In Wuhan, the cordon off of the Chinese metropolis due to the corona virus has become a long time ago. In the central Chinese city, the corona virus was first detected in people at the end of 2019. Within a few weeks it spread rapidly in Wuhan, and the city was cordoned off by the authorities on January 23. Eleven million people were not allowed to leave their homes for 76 days.

In the days that followed, the measure was extended to all of Hubei Province, where Wuhan is located. From China, the virus spread around the world. While numerous countries are still fighting against the spread of the virus today, nothing in Wuhan is reminiscent of the ghost town a year ago. Public transport, parks and bars were full of people again today.
WHO experts research origins

But with new sources of infection across the country, concerns are also growing in China that the virus could spread again. A team of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) is currently in Wuhan to research the origins of the coronavirus. Most scientists assume that bats were the original hosts of the coronavirus. However, it is unclear which animal served as the so-called intermediate host in the transmission to humans. Among other things, the WHO experts want to investigate this.
