FBI: Nashville bombers acted alone

Less than three months after the devastating explosion in the US city of Nashville, the FBI has ruled out terrorism as a motive. The assassin was driven, among other things, by paranoia and „several eccentric conspiracy theories“ and wanted to commit suicide, said the FBI in a press release on an investigation report.

The analysis did not reveal any evidence of a broader ideological motive, it said yesterday (local time). The bomber carefully selected the time and place of the explosion in order to attract attention and destruction while still reducing the likelihood that people would be injured, the FBI said. The man built the explosives and detonated them by himself.

The explosion in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, occurred on the morning of Christmas Day. The man had blown up his motor home and died in the process. The explosion caused extensive property damage and several people were injured. If there had been no warning from the caravan to the residents 15 minutes before the detonation, the investigators believe that several people would have been killed.
