
In the diesel scandal, charges have been brought against the former Audi CEO Rupert Stadler and three other accused. They were accused of fraud, false certification and criminal prosecution, the Munich prosecutor announced this morning.
The authority has already filed an indictment yesterday, pending is the procedure at the district court of Munich.
Among other things Stadler should be responsible for the fact that Audi sold diesel vehicles with manipulated exhaust gas values long after the exhaust affair became known.
He was accused of having „at the latest from the end of September 2015 of the manipulation knowledge,“ said the prosecutor. Nevertheless, he has continued the sale of affected vehicles of the brands Audi and VW caused or this „not prevented“.
Audi: Charge as an opportunity
Stadler is also said to have tried to influence witnesses or accused persons. He had been remanded in June last year. In October he was released under conditions.
„It is in the interest of the employees, the shareholders and the entire company, the facts that have led to the diesel crisis, legally completely clear,“ said an Audi spokesman. The criminal process is a chance to clarify the scandal, the spokesman said.
