The European Commission has approved the $ 71 billion acquisition of the film and television business of the US media group Twenty-First Century Fox by its competitor Walt Disney conditional.

Disney would have to sell its shares in certain broadcasters in Europe for approval to take effect, the commission said today. The channels include History and Crime & Investigation.

In June, the US Department of Justice approved the deal on condition. Fox’s film and television business has produced such hits as „Avatar“, the „X-Men“ series, „Titanic“ and the TV series „The Simpsons“. The Mickey Mouse inventor Disney already includes the channels ABC and ESPN as well as the houses Marvel, Pixar and „Stars Wars“ producer Lucasfilm.
