The Indonesian island of Java was shattered in the morning by a magnitude 5.9 earthquake.
The center of the quake lay about 160 kilometers southeast of the Malang district at a depth of ten kilometers.
This was announced by the Geophysical Agency in Jakarta. No information was available about possible damages or victims. A tsunami warning was not caused, it was said by the authorities.
