In connection with the investigation into Russia, US President Donald Trump Jr. is said to testify again before the Senate Intelligence Committee. The interview will take place behind closed doors today, CNN reported. The eldest son of President Trump should be questioned about half a dozen aspects.

Summons under penalty of punishment

In May, it became known that the Republican-led intelligence committee had summoned the presidential son under penalty to answer further questions regarding the Russia investigation into Moscow’s presumed influence on the 2016 presidential campaign. US President Donald Trump had reacted irritated to the summons of his son.

The republican committee chairman Richard Burr had to take because of the summons fierce criticism from the own ranks. Trump Jr. testified before the Senate in September 2017. At that time it was a meeting with representatives of Russia in the Trump Tower and a construction project of his father in Moscow.

Special Envoy Robert Mueller had been investigating for nearly two years whether Donald Trump’s campaign team had made secret arrangements with Russia prior to the 2016 presidential election and whether the US president had obstructed the judiciary. Mueller presented his report at the end of March. The Special Investigator and his team had met with „numerous“ contacts between Trump’s election campaign camp and representatives of Russia. However, they did not find evidence of a crime.
