
The country icon Dolly Parton (73) will be honored at the Grammy Awards this coming Sunday with a musical tribute. Stars like Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves and the band Little Big Town are to sing at the gala in Los Angeles earlier hits of eight -year Grammy Award winner, as the distributors of the music awards yesterday announced. In addition, Parton is for the first time since 2001 again stand on the Grammy stage and sing songs from their new album „Dumplin ‚“.
As „Person of the Year“, Parton will be honored this year by the Grammy Foundation MusiCares for their artistic and charitable achievements. She is the first artist from the country’s stronghold Nashville, who receives this honor.
In previous years, former Beatle Paul McCartney, rocker Bruce Springsteen, and folklore legend Bob Dylan were named the „Person Of The Year“ by the Foundation’s Grammy Recording Academy.
Parton is involved with their Dollywood Foundation, especially for the education of children and young people. The Grammy Award winner is considered the most successful US country singer with the most awards. After her debut with „Hello, I’m Dolly“ (1967) she released dozens of albums. She has written many hits, including „I Will Always Love You“, „Jolene“ and „9 to 5“.
