A suspected right-wing extremist has been sentenced to 21 months in New Zealand for distributing a terror video. The owner of a shop advertising neo-Nazi symbols forwarded the video of the attack on two 51-dead mosques in mid-March in Christchurch to acquaintances. Therefore, a court in Christchurch imposed the prison sentence against the 44-year-old today.
The attack was filmed by the culprit with a helmet camera and transmitted live via a Facebook account on the Internet. The businessman from Christchurch forwarded the shots to 30 friends the next day. In addition, he commissioned to provide the video with a „dead count“ – a kind of tally, how many people had been murdered. He was arrested.
Because of the attack, a 29-year-old right-wing extremist from Australia is being held in custody in a high-security prison. The prosecution charges him with 51 times murder and 40 times attempted murder. If convicted, the Australian expects life imprisonment. The process is scheduled to start in May 2020.
