In the German state of Thuringia, several death threats against top politicians have become public shortly before the state election. Like Thuringia’s CDU lead candidate Mike Mohring, Green Party leader Dirk Adams also received a similar throne from suspected right-wing extremists, as Adams said today at Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk.

Mail sender „Cyberreichswehr“

The sender of the e-mail, which was received in his constituency office in Nordhausen, call himself „Cyberreichswehr“ and announce a knife or a car bombing if Adams does not quit the Greens. Adams passed the threat on to the police. „I’m not serious,“ he said.

Earlier, Mohring had made a new death threat to himself. He should stop his election campaign by noon yesterday. „That’s what right-wing extremists demanded of me in an e-mail I got the night before yesterday,“ Mohring said yesterday in a video posted on Twitter and Facebook. „If I do not do that, then they want to cut me off like the Lord Mayor of Cologne, Henriette Reker, or even ignite a car bomb.“

„We must not leave room for hatred, violence, aggression, or death threats,“ said Mohring. Other top candidates for the state election on Sunday would be threatened. Mohring had already received a death threat at the end of September.

The sender of the postcard took at that time, according to CDU data indirectly related to the murder of Kassel district president Walter Lübcke. The threatening letter stated that Mohring was number two and would soon receive a „headshot“.

Threats against Greens boss Habeck

Green leader Robert Habeck had received death threats in the Thuringian state election campaign. In this context, the police raided the homes of two accused on Friday. In one case, a police-aware right-wing extremist is said to have obtained illegal firearms. In the second case, a 27-year-old from Northern Thuringia is said to have publicly called for serious crimes against the Green Party Chairman as part of his election campaign in Thuringia.
