A body has been recovered from the plane crashed into the English Channel by Argentinian professional footballer Emiliano Sala. The corpse was taken out of the wreck under „difficult conditions,“ according to the British Aviation Inquiry Bureau (AAIB) during the night. The operation was „as dignified as possible“ run.

The identity of the dead was initially unclear. The body is now to be examined by a medical examiner.

Recovery of the machine canceled

The attempt to recover the machine was unsuccessful due to bad weather conditions, explained the authority. Since the weather forecasts for the next time are not good, the „difficult decision“ was made to stop the overall operation.

The single-engine propeller aircraft with the 28-year-old footballer and the British pilot disappeared from the radar on January 21 about 20 kilometers north of the Channel Island Guernsey. Sala was from Nantes in western France on the way to his new club Cardiff City in Wales.

The machine was found barely two weeks after the crash at the bottom of the English Channel. Underwater pictures showed a corpse inside the wreck.
