After the outbreak of the new lung disease in China, the People’s Republic feels disparaged by an illustration of a Danish newspaper. This shows a Chinese flag in which the five gold stars have been replaced by stylized viruses.
Jyllands Post refuses to apologize
While this rare health emergency is being fought in China and the international community shows sympathy and support for it, the paper insults the country with a satirical drawing and thereby hurts the feelings of the Chinese people, said the Chinese embassy in Copenhagen. The newspaper “Jyllands-Posten” is therefore asked to make an official apology to the Chinese population.
This will not exist, however, said editor-in-chief Jacob Nybroe. “Jyllands-Posten” published the drawing yesterday. The newspaper also published the controversial Mohammed cartoons in 2005, which had led to violent protests in several Muslim countries.
