The US-China trade dispute has stalled for the time being: Beijing will „immediately“ implement the trade facilitation agreed with Washington at the G20 summit, Chinese spokesman Gao Feng said Thursday.
This concerns agricultural products, the areas of energy and cars as well as other goods, added the spokesman.
China’s leader Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump agreed on a ceasefire in their trade dispute a few days ago on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Buenos Aires. At a dinner they agreed to forego for the time being threatened new punitive tariffs.
At the same time, the US issued an ultimatum to China: If Beijing does not comply with the demands for a reduction of trade barriers within 90 days, the punitive tariffs should rise as planned. As early as Wednesday, Beijing said China would start implementing certain points where there was consensus – „the faster the better“. (Afp)
